I was looking at photos of the grown daughter of a friend on Facebook. My whole family was gathered around looking with me. I couldn’t believe that she was out of college. The last time I saw her she was in elementary school. “Look Jason, isn’t she pretty?”
He nodded. That’s when Grace blurted out, “Yes, she is much more beautifuler than you!” My whole family gasped in shock as I burst out laughing. I mean really it was quite humorous. The girl in the picture was at least fifteen years younger than I. To be compared at all was a compliment.
After the rest recovered from their shock, Jason said, “No, that’s not true!”
But the reason I will remember this incident is that my little Joy with all her passion burst out, ” No she’s not! Mom, you’re the beautifulEST!”
I suppose I half expected my husband to come to my defense, but my daughter jumping in my corner was quite the pleasant surprise!

How sweet! =)
Oh, you know you’re gorgeous, girl… LOL You’re at least as gorgeous as I am. (insert flamboyant pose)
Cute! And I love that your first response was to laugh. You’ve got joy in your belly and that’s one of the greatest blessings in life.
AWWWW! My oldest daughter is like that. Always full of compliments for me, and wants to take care of me when I’m sad. She’s a sweetheart!
Maybe it’s kinda nice, having a brutally honest daughter to say potentially hurtful things, and then a second daughter to lay on the compliments? Sounds like a nice set-up to me! =)
