Mineview in the Sky Virginia, Minnesota

Mine View in the sky Virginia MNAfter exploring a mine and seeing the Eagle Veteran Memorial, we ended our day of sight seeing at Mineview in the Sky.  We drove up a high hill to the lookout.

Mineview in the Sky Mountian Iron MNThe view overlooks the towns of Mountain Iron and Virginia Minnesota.  It was so pretty up there!  You can see an old mine and where they are currently mining.  Word has it that the plan is to blow up some roads and move them to keep mining.  I don’t think my GPS will be able to keep up as it had plenty of trouble with the rural Minnesota roads as it was!  At the top there is a neat gift shop with huge windows giving a great view even from inside.

Big mine trucks Virginia MNThe kids enjoyed exploring the mining equipment.    Check out the size of that truck!  Of course in Texas we call that Tonka!  😉  Big Shovel Virginia MNBobby looked at that and said something like, “Big shovel!”  Indeed!

Virginia MN Mineview big trucksWe enjoyed the view, watched some mining from afar, successfully didn’t break anything in the gift shop, played around the big trucks and climbed on the nearby play ground.  Adults and children alike enjoyed this stop.  Mineview in the Sky is free!

It looks like you’ve found our old stomping grounds. I bet the kids had fun. It’s strange to think that we never actually went to these areas when we lived there. We spent a night in Virginia but that as close as we ever came.
