While we were gone the kids had fun too with my niece Skylar Ashley who flew in to stay with our children while we were on an Alaskan cruise. More stories about what happened while we were away:

During nap time, I slipped upstairs and grabbed Grace. “I know it’s nap time, but I need your help!” She stopped her game and hurried down stairs with me, and when we got to the kitchen I surprised her with all the things needed to make cookies! We had a blast. I let her do all the measuring and showed her how to use a spoon to put the cookie dough onto the pans.
After naptime, Joy came down and took her turn putting dough onto pans too.
While we were waiting for the cookies to bake, we all sat down and made art projects. Even Bobby joined in! He complained about wanting to use the scissors. I asked him “Would Mommy let you use the scissors?” He looked up at me with big teary eyes “Yes…” Again, I had to laugh.
Joy made an adorable picture frame for her parents. And all the kids made beautiful art for me! I felt so loved!!
I burned the cookies… Not all of them, but a good majority… So Friday we tried again! Faith helped me the second time, since she was at school the first time. She kept telling me “These are going to taste terrible. I don’t know what I’m doing! They’re going to turn out bad!” Of course they didn’t. We all had dessert before super and all the kids insisted they were the best cookies I’d ever made. Haha. “It’s the secret ingredient,” I told them. They begged me to tell them my secret! It’s love. 😉
