Saying or sometimes doing the wrong thing, at the wrong time, in the wrong way–yeah, that’s just a regular day at our house! These make grand opportunities for laughter, and really, we can’t pass up a chance to laugh these days!
I’m not addicted
Afrin. It’s the one thing I never want to be without when I have a cold. Mine disappeared from my bedside table, and you should have seen me going crazy looking for it. Ha! It reminded me of the time someone told me they don’t use it because it’s addictive. “Oh, I’ve been using it for years, and I’m not addicted,” I replied. Bright! How I’ve laughed over that through the years. It always brings a smile to my face when I have a cold.
How old?
At a business meeting my husband was chatting with a man and talking about his family. Since Jason told him I grew up in the area, the man wondered if he knew me and asked what year I graduated high school. Jason told him…(wait for it)…1971! The guy looked really shocked and asked, “How old are you?”
“I’m 44,” he replied not knowing what the big deal was. Right about then the meeting started, and that’s how he left the conversation. It wasn’t until later that Jason realized how old he told the man I am… How we laugh over this!
Please, not lice…again!
“Mom, my head had been so itchy!” it was the second time in the day she had mentioned it.
“Oh no,” I thought,” I hope we don’t all have lice!” It had happened before. Though it was many years ago, it’s an experience one doesn’t soon forget. “Let me check your hair.” My daughter walked over, and I began at the nape of the neck.
No way! I could see several little black spots. My heart sank. I felt like crying. How many of us had them, I wondered, and how long it would take to rid our house of them. I took her to the kitchen where the light was bright and sat her in a chair to have a better look. The spots were still there in the same places. That was odd. I tried to get them to move, but they didn’t budge. That’s when I realized they were…ink!! She had put little dots of pen on her scalp. It would have been a grand joke had she done it on purpose. “Oh,” she said, “I thought the pen was closed.” And she went on her merry way leaving me clutching my heart.
I pray you continue to find joy in these heart heavy times. We certainly look for it even when the last laugh is on us!
