It’s beginning to look a little like Christmas

Finally!  Last night we had our annual Christmas Tree Decorating Party.  So what that there are only a few days left until Christmas, I’m just happy to have gotten to it at all!

Traditionally, I have made a buffet of lots of finger foods for our party.  This year was much more simple.  My idea was always that if I made food and called it a party then my husband would help me put up the tree.  Ha ha!  So far it’s worked pretty well!

Jason walked into the house, saw the table, stopped short and asked, “Did I forget something?”  Classic!

Texas Chili

Jalapeno Cheese Ball

Eggnog

Caramel Popcorn

The kids all helped make the popcorn.  As soon as it was all mixed and gooey, Grace looked at it and proclaimed, “I wanna get sick!”

After we ate Jason put the tree up for me and everyone helped decorate!

The kids all got Christmas PJs from their Nebraska grandparents.

They all decorated their rooms with their nativity sets and then since it got too late we watched our Christmas movie the  next morning in our pajamas.  Whew.  Now what to do for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years?  🙂

I love the PJs! Each year I say I’m going to get my girls a pair then forget when I’m out shopping. Too cute, though!

On Christmas Day we go to my mom and dad’s house and spend the whole day. The next day we go to my husband’s parents. It’s really an exhausting couple of days. For New Years we go to bed at our normal times and get up early to go to the zoo or do something together as just our little family of four. It’s a nice time to relax and regroup after Christmas.

I love the idea of a Christmas tree decorating party!

The matching jammies remind me of when I was a kid. My sister and I would get matching or similar jammies each year. That’s a good looking bunch of kids there!

The kids look cute in their matching jammies! I love getting my kids (the little ones) dressed up in matching outfits too.

Call me vain, but nothing says “family” quite as loud! Especially with our bunch, where each kid looks VERY different from the other :).

    I love their pj’s!! So cute 🙂
I actually like how you leave all the decorating to right before Christmas, at least you probably have some sort of normalacy in your home for the month of December 🙂
    Have a wonderful day!

Hey, you DID get your tree up in time for Christmas, and that’s something. That caramel popcorn looks good…

Oh what fun. My mom used to buy us pjs. But i feel bad we have so many hand me downs the pj drawer is overflowing, it would feel wasteful to go and buy.

Thanks for sharing and the reminder to keep it all special.

    Happy Birthday Jesus!

Ohhhh, Esther……growing up, we used to do the same thing (have a buffet while decorating the tree)….I always loved that tradition….now in my own home, we put up the Christmas village and our tree on Jay’s birthday (beginning of December)….except that this year, I wasn’t in the mood, so the kids decorated their own mini trees which sit in front of the fireplace!!!

The picture of Jason Jr. is my favorite. (I don’t have favorites among the kids, just especially like that picture.)Hooray for the Nebraska grandparents–for pj’s are really cute!

Must be a Nebraska thing. We Nebraska grandparents think pj’s when we think of Christmas!
