…because it feels like it’s always my kid. This was my three-year-old’s spring program at the one day a week Mom’s Day Out. See if you can spot him. I know it’ll be difficult, (har har) but try!
Uh huh! Yeah, well, in his defense his teacher told me that he usually sings and participates in class so I’m not sure what happened up there. He is a bit shy. Maybe he was just scared of all those people looking at him. Maybe I should have prepared him better. Sometimes it’s just hard to know how a child will react. It didn’t seem to bother him too much afterward though. A cookie can fix anything!
If you liked this, then you won’t want to miss the story about my daughter’s Christmas concert!

I.love.it 😉 Kids like that are the ones that make those kind of programs fun to watch, too cute
That’s cute 🙂 My oldest did things like that in almost every church program till he was 7 or 8 years old. I remember that feeling, “Is it always my kid?” but it’s funny to think back on now that he’s 24 yrs. old.
Hilarious! 🙂
last week in soccer practice, my five year old was attempting to do headstands and twirling around in the field, completely oblivious to the actual practice around him. no, dear, it is not just your kid. but it is, in fact, ALWAYS my kid! lol what a cutie…. and little jason looks like he was having a fun all his own…..
Too cute! Picturing this some day as a part of a wedding slide show. 🙂
Oh, my…too adorable! glad a cookie helped 🙂 our girl is shy so I can relate…that is a lot of attention for a little one…
It looks like he found a way to sing without seeing the audience!
I am cracking up!!! For real. I’ve so been there. My son was the same kid at his Christmas program. He just sad down in the middle of the performance and then proceeded to cry. Then he spotted my husband and walked right off stage. Awesome, right? Nope, not just your kid!
Over a year ago when I read about your daughter’s Christmas concert, you taught me to step back and see the humor in a situation. I often see humor in retrospect, but at the time I’m embarrassed. The fact that this story about your son is cute puts the whole embarrassment thing into perspective and helps me to step back from the present and enjoy it for what it is.
It is hard to say what will happen to kids when they are in front of a crowd!
Beautiful! I remember my now elegant, lithe, and lovely teen insisting upon lifting her dresses over her head to hid her face at the Christian pre-school Easter pageant. My husband was horrified!!
Thanks for the Friday smile….
Peace and good
Aw, it’s tough to be in front of a big crowd at any age, but especially when you are young.
I think he’s a cutie. I can only hope my little guy will behave THAT well when it’s his turn on stage…lol.
And, you’re right, a cookie can fix anything at that age. That’s the best part.
So cute! And no, it’s not just your kid. Although, mine never sat down she was always the one distracted, and singing loudly, and off key. At her kindergarten graduation she got her fake diploma all rolled up with a nice blue ribbon and went to sit down in her chair on stage. She was like the third one called out of thirteen. Big mistake. At first she just looked around with her diploma like a telescope. Then at the other kids around her. Then played swords with the boy behind her. Then started poking at the kids that walked by her to sit down. Finally she finished off her performance by singing loudly into her diploma “My wish for yooouuuuuu….” (the song from their slide show) all off key and purposely goofy. Everyone thought it was great fun, except for me who sat there wondering why they called her up there so early when I clearly warned her teacher that I did not think she was going to sit still that long. But because her first name starts with B and they did things in alphabetical order by first name well, what can you do? Sit and laugh that’s what!
Oh Esther that is too cute..I’m so glad you got pics. of him! LOL There is always one kid that does something like that…it’s usually mine..sooo I can sure empathize..but still it’s too cute!! LOL
Blessings
It is funny but at least he was having fun! My older daughter is one that wants to be in the concerts in school and asks to be in them, but then barely even moves her lips when she is in the concert.
Aww, too cute! I think we all have or had these moments from one or all of our children before. These instances are great for the memory books. ;0)
I totally have one of those! We have a video at VBS of my 4 year old running around the stage while every other kid is singing so cute.
Nope, my kids always danced to a different drummer… and they still do, even as teens and I think its WONDERFUL. Not fitting in is a virtue as far as I’m concerned.
At my oldest dd’s 3 yo recital, she was off on the end doing her own dance, completely unaware of the fact that everyone else was doing something together. She was 3, and it was adorable. now if she was 13 and still not paying attention, I’d just not ever pay for lessons again, but at 3, eh, they’re just kids being kids and maybe having a moment…
