IHop Date with Grace

Grace was SO excited to finally get to take her turn.  After hearing all about Joy’s date to IHop that was what she really wanted to do.  She literally jumped up and down as we left and didn’t stop smiling or chattering the entire time.  Grace is my middle child and boy does she feel it.  It was incredibly fun to be able to give her my full attention, answering each and every question.  She answered all my questions about her favorite things with enthusiasm.  We were only away from home about an hour, but it meant so much to her.  She has talked endlessly about it ever since and is already excited about her next turn.

I finally completed round one of Mommy dates with the kids.  I didn’t realize it would be that difficult to work in, but it helped when I finally saw that week night evenings just weren’t going to work.  My husband’s work hours are just too unpredictable to count on.  It has been much easier to sneak away for an hour or two on the weekend.  I intend to complete round two in much less time!

I’m linked with Works for Me Wednesday, A Holy Experience and Heavenly Homemakers.

That’s so awesome. I’m sure the kiddos love having the one-on-one time 🙂

I ought to do this, too. One on one time with kids is so valuable because it makes them feel special and loved.

Once my kids were grown and had kids of their own, I asked one day what they remembered most about their childhood. They both agreed that they remembered most “that I always played with them.” I still take that as a great compliment. No, the house wasn’t always spick and span. Or the laundry all caught up. They didn’t care about those things. What they wanted was my attention. Good for you. Keep it going. You’ll never be sorry.

That is nice. And wasn’t it nice to get away too? Both of us get to talk to each other without someone else interrupting.

I really need to some more 1 on 1 time…

Ya know his hair color could change too. Both of my kids were born with dark brown hair, and now they are both blonde. My son had dark blue eyes just like Bobby’s too and now his are light green. I don’t think anything is concrete until they are older and even then his hair color could change. Crazy, huh?

Love this sweet idea! I have 3 girls and I want to do something like this with them as they get older. What a treasured memory for Grace. I am a new FB fan visiting from We are THAT Family. Vicky from Mess For Less
