Yes, how about those New Year’s Resolutions? We’re one month in already y’all. Can you believe it? I’m tempted to start here with excuses. I’m not where I want to be on all three of the goals I set for the year, BUT like I originally stated, I’m a lot farther than if I hadn’t set those goals!
As it turned out I traveled for three long weekends in January. It sure makes it harder to get all those things done. So #1 my Bible reading and #2 Walking/jogging a mile a day I’m about a week behind. I have every intention of working to get caught up…unless of course February proves to be as busy as January. Ha!
Now I told you I wasn’t setting out to diet or lose weight right? Well…to my surprise and my husband’s horror (my words not his) I gained weight! With the added exercise I was SO hungry that I went on one of those SEE food must eat diets. I ditched that diet to my husband’s relief (don’t think he’ll argue with that. ha ha) and ended the month the same weight that I started. All is well!
Where I really dropped the ball was on my pursuit of reading 6 books this year. You know I think kicking it back from 12 to 6 may have been a mistake. Instead of throwing myself into the reading I figured…hey I’ve got two whole months to get this done. At the end of the day when I’m exhausted I’m much more tempted to play a quick game on the ipad than read my book. We’ll see if I get it done by the end of February. I hope so, because it’s a fabulous book…
Where I have worked really hard and made a lot of progress (though this wasn’t one of my goals for the year) is with the kids’ schooling. Even though it’s been really busy with unexpected travel, we have not fallen farther behind and have actually inched forward in our pursuit of getting caught up. Yea! I really, really, REALLY don’t want to be doing school all summer again.
We’ve been setting alarms and getting up early. It’s made all the difference! I’ve set daily goals for the kids to accomplish with fun rewards when they work hard and reach them. In getting up earlier I had also hoped to make better progress with getting and keeping our home clean. This you guys just eludes me. Sigh. Someday when all the kids are grown I’ll have a clean house. Then I’ll miss the chaos right? That’s what they say any way.
Pressing onward in February!
