Happy 8th Birthday Grace!

Eight years old!  It’s hard to believe that Grace is eight!  I’ve always heard similar things come from the mouths of moms and now it’s me saying them over and over.  She has been excited to turn eight because that’s the age I begin overnight Mommy and Me days with my girls.  We plan one every two years from age eight.  She has seen her sisters go off and then heard all about the fun we had and is looking forward to her turn.

Happy Birthday Grace

This year Grace’s birthday fell on Memorial Day which to the kids means a Daddy holiday!  When we asked what special activity she would like to do she wanted to go to a movie.  There weren’t any big surprises when it came to the menu she chose…SOPA!

Birthday meal and tableTo go with her Sopa she asked for our favorite Jalapeno Cheese Ball and olives.  This girl loves olives!  To go with her food I also threw together a berry salad with Cool Whip!  And a birthday isn’t complete without a special drink.  I found fun sparkling drinks from Welch’s, cherry lemonade, strawberry limeade, and passion fruit!

Birthday cake 8 yearsThe rainbow cake for dessert is a frequent request as well!

Birthday gifts

Grace adores everything “Hello Kitty.”  For her gift I found an array of Hello Kitty items from toys to pens and filled the Hello Kitty bag that I found.  She had fun going through all her things.

Grace is very tender hearted.  Out of all my children she is the one that will apologize on her own when she’s been wrong.  Yesterday she came up to me out of the blue and said, “Mom, I’m sorry for all the bad things I did.”  When she has done something to hurt someone she feels really bad.

She has had it rough trying to keep up with her older sisters and there was a time when she was  younger that I really worried about her as she felt left out all of the time.  She is much more content now and spends time with all of her siblings looking up to the girls and mothering the boys.  Grace is such a treasure!
