Bobby is three years old! Well…actually he’s been three since (cough) NOVEMBER! Wait. I can explain. See his birthday falls over Thanksgiving. We were on VACATION! And, and, he’s so little. And he wouldn’t notice that we postponed his party for say…FOUR months! I never meant to wait this long, but there’s always something right? Until the other day…
It was Jason’s birthday and two of the girls were going to a friend’s house for a birthday party. We were all getting ready to go when Bobby came into my room. He kind of sauntered in with his head down. “Mommy, I want a birthday party.” He raised his shoulders and arms a little and explained, “I didn’t have a birthday party,” and looked back down to the floor. Oh my heart. I fell down to the floor so that I could look in his eyes. I hugged his little body and promised his party would be very soon. And so here it is. Our birthday parties are so simple, just a favorite meal, balloon, and a gift, but still they are so meaningful to the kids, a time set aside for them.
Bobby’s favorite food is pizza, but we had just had pizza the night before so I made his second favorite Sopa, Jalapeno Popper Dip, and a confetti cake–all favorites at our house. That was topped off with Cheetos and sparkling apple juice.
Part of our tradition, is for everyone to go around and say something they love or appreciate about the birthday boy. I think almost everyone commented something about Bobby’s sense of humor. He really does have a great sense of humor. He gets jokes and cracks his own. He is such a fun little guy to have around. This little boy lives life to the fullest. When he’s happy, it reaches all the way to the ends of his hair and tips of his toes. When he’s mad…the same is true!
He will now admit he’s three. Up until now he would insist that he was still two, and I always wondered why…

I can’t believe Bobby is three years old already ~ where has the time gone?
Happy (belated) Birthday, Bobby = )
Esther, your family is such a kick! Tell the birthday boy I said hello!
You’re so funny! That’s great that you gave him a birthday party, even though it was late. Looks like he had fun!
