I’m not sure what I can’t get over the most. The fact that Faith is that old (13) or that we’re that old! Yes, I’m saying it again, I can’t believe we have a teenager in the house! It’s been 13 years since that night in the hospital when I realized…I’d never sleep through a night again! It’s been that long since my first near death experience, yes there have been more than one. 🙂 How the coming of that little baby all those years ago has changed our lives. Gone is the baby. Gone is the little girl. I’m so proud of the sweet young lady she is becoming.
Daddy brought home flowers for the birthday girl. As you know, our tradition for birthdays is a family dinner at home, when possible. The birthday child gets to pick the menu. For the first time in a long time Faith deviated from the traditional Sopa meal. She asked for Potato Soup. I suppose with it being summer I haven’t made it as often. I don’t know, but it’s one of her favorite dishes.
To go along with the soup she requested fresh strawberries with Cool Whip, Jalapeno Popper Dip, Potato Chips with lime juice and cayenne pepper, and Mexican bottled Sangria Senorial! She also chose a French Vanilla Cake mix with Cream Cheese frosting. Another tradition is for everyone to go around the table and share something they appreciate about the birthday girl. The kids appreciate how much she helps and spends time with them. I love that too!
Thirteen candles and she awed her siblings by blowing them all out in one breath! Whew! One thing Faith and I share is our love of food. She’s a foodie! We dream about taking a cruise together, just the two of us, to read books and enjoy great food. How fun that would be!
Little Jason was SO proud to pick this out at the store and spend his own money to give it to Faith on her birthday. It was so sweet to watch. Her gift from us? Nerf guns! She’s loving those! Happy 13th birthday to my girl, may we celebrate many, many more!

Happy Birthday to your daughter! She looks like she had a lovely day.
