Twelve years old! Incredible! I am so blessed to be this girl’s mommy! I think she felt duly celebrated. We were to be traveling to my parent’s house to be available to help as my dad went in to the hospital for back surgery. Joy’s birthday fell on the day before the surgery. I knew we would be really busy getting ready to go to the hospital that I didn’t think there would be time to celebrate.
I invited her to a night at Medieval Times Dallas, one of my favorite places, just the two of us. It was for her birthday, but I promised we would have our traditional family party after we came home from our trip.
Happy 12 years to my sweetie Joy! Thanks to her Aunt Sara and family for throwing her a party!

I should have known. My sister Sara and my niece Ashley knowing it was Joy’s birthday invited us over for dinner and threw Joy a party including this yummy KitKat cake to boot! Joy was thrilled! When I mentioned we wouldn’t need to have a home party after all she would have none of that. “You promised!” she accused. Ha!
Joy received her first flowers from Daddy! Daddy usually brings home a balloon for the birthday girl, until they turn 12. Then he begins bringing them flowers!
While she has seen her older sister receive flowers she was totally expecting a balloon from her dad and was so excited! They were beautiful roses!
And here’s the traditional family photo sans Mom! Ha ha. We waited so long to eat that no one was wanting to wait for a photo including me. I just snapped a cheesy one and went on my way.
For her mean she originally wanted egg salad sandwiches. She loves them! But my sister made them for her so for our at home party she wanted Sopa, Jalapeno Popper Dip, and Strawberry Pretzel Salad–some of her favorite foods!
She placed her own candles on the cake rainbow style. I didn’t realize when I bought them, but the flames are the color of the candles. These were a huge hit!
Oh my dear Joy, she is such a sweet heart! When everyone went around the table to say something they appreciate about Joy, everyone commented on how fun she is. She is the life of the party always dreaming up the next fun thing to do. She certainly brings spice to our lives. May we enjoy many, many more years with our sweet girl!

Wow,three celebrations!
She’s gonna be spoiled rotten! lol
Your beautiful family is growing up quickly, Esther!!
Too fast it seems! Thank you Deb. 🙂
