Ten years old–we celebrated Joy’s birthday this week. It is unbelievable that she is ten already. I know, I know I’m repeating myself, but wow. For those of you that have been on this blogging journey with me, just the other day (four years ago) when I started this site, she was only six.
You will notice that I take the same shot of them each year on their birthday. Yes, this is on purpose! It’s not that I lack imagination. Ha ha. It’s like a growth chart. I am capturing them in similar photos each year to see how they grow and change.
Her meal of choice? I don’t think you have to guess. Sopa is what my kids generally ask for. My husband likes it okay, but prefers meat. He looked around at the table and sighed, “I have to have this meal five times a year.” Cracked me up! She also requested our favorite Jalapeno Cheese Ball, watermelon, Funyuns, and Strawberry cake with Buttercream frosting.
Our birthday celebrations are always family affairs. This year Joy really wanted to celebrate with a friend. Part of me wanted to make that happen for her, but I try very hard to do the same thing for all of my children, and I know that I won’t be able to swing parties with friends for all of them. No, for birthdays it’s just family, at least for now. We can get together with friends on other days.
And we really have a wonderful time together. Joy said this was the best birthday ever!
Joy is my “getter done” kid. She is self motivated, loves to create, and is a great help around the house. She is a lot of fun too and keeps everyone on their toes. Joy is an outgoing kid and loves to meet people. She loves to win and is good at it. It’s losing that’s a challenge, though she doesn’t get much practice at that. Right now I’m her biggest challenge at Just Dance Kids on the Wi. She can beat me every once in a while, but usually I still win. She hates that, but I figure we’re building character right? I’m going to kill myself to keep winning as long as I can. Ha ha! Happy Birthday Joy!
