Faith and Joy experienced camp for the first time last week. A few kids from our church went to Southland Christian Camp in Louisiana and my two were ecstatic to be a part of it. My girls sold candy bars around the neighborhood to help raise the money themselves. I think they liked selling the candy bars about as much as going to camp! Only Jason got tired of taking them out to sell them so guess what? They get to eat the rest of them!
So Monday morning I took them to the meeting site and left them to the care of friends to get them safely to camp. What was I thinking? Oh my goodness! The three younger ones had no idea what to do without their older sisters for the first two days. Jason ended up working late, and I was going crazy. But then by the third day things changed, and it was beautiful. I loved how my Grace took charge then. She played beautifully with the boys and helped me out with a great attitude. It was so neat to see her without the competition of her older sisters. We had a great time.
The group arrived safety at camp! They look so excited and ready for their adventure.
I did miss my two older girls and was so happy when Friday rolled around, and it was time to go pick them up again. They had a wonderful time.
Joy came home with a camp T-shirt that her sweet friend bought for her. Joy says the best part of camp was spending her money! 🙂 Faith said she enjoyed all of the activities. I’m still hearing more stories every day about what went on at camp.
I’m hoping next year we can go to family camp. It has been a dream of mine…pretty much ever since I had children. Maybe next year will be my year!

Sounds like they had a great time! I’ve got two little boys and I’m sure they’ll love something like this when they’re a bit older.
Rakel used to work there as a camp counselor.
