Finally, a line of building toys geared toward girls! Because after all Girls Build Too! Besides my husband, my ten year old Joy is the engineer of the family. This girl LOVES to build…and take things apart. It’s how her mind works. When she was an infant, she would take a screw off the crib and hand it to me every morning! On the phone one morning, I looked outside in the back yard, and she was taking my patio furniture apart! Whenever anything comes into our house that needs to be put together, Joy comes to the rescue.
I cannot tell you how excited she was to receive a set of GoldieBlox toys! First she opened and put together her GoldieBlox Zipline.
Joy had the entire thing assembled in about five minutes. This girl is a pro!
With a little suction the zipline can be placed on most surfaces. In no time Joy had her action figure ziplining down the hallway. So fun!
Next Joy dove into the GoldiBlox Builder’s Survival Kit. It comes with over 190 pieces and includes a GoldieBlox Diary of Inventions.
Joy spent some time reading through the Diary deciding what she wanted to build first.
Eventually she decided on Val’s Drum Set, and began assembling all the pieces.
It was in building the drum that she first ran into a little trouble. You know, it’s in the midst of trouble that our true character comes out isn’t it? She began to get frustrated when she put the drum together then realized the inside parts were not facing the right direction to finish putting it together. She had to tear the outside paper to get back into the drum to fix it. I wondered how this would affect her. Would she be disappointed? Discouraged? “Mom, we can just tape it!” It was a no brainer! Problem solved. No biggie. There’s not much in life that we get right the first time is there? Figuring out a solution without losing our cool is a great thing to learn!
Tada! She was so proud of her accomplishment.

This is amazing!! I would even love to play with these!!! My whole life has been a learn and bounce back, that’s just how it is. Praising God that He lets me learn so much! 🙂
So true! Me too! Thank you Jamie.
I would love for the chance to play with such an innovative girls toy! Makes me feel like there is hope in the world that BARBIE hasn’t RUINED every girl’s idea that she can’t be anything but a homey honey do wife.
I failed my driver’s test the first time when I was a teenager…basically because I made one mistake (twice!)….but when I picked myself up and when I took it again I passed easily 🙂
I vividly remember failing to climb a rope in gym in school …. I was awarded a D- “for effort.” I can’t say I bounced back in rope climbing, but I did excel in my other subjects 🙂 I LOVE this product and how cute is your daughter with it? I love the engineering/designing aspects of the toy!!
I had thought of that I failed a race when I couldn’t run it all, but I had to give myself some leeway and learn from the experience and adjust my expectations.
The first time I took a marketing class in college I failed miserably, it was at 7am, I was late all the time, I didn’t understand the professor’s accent and I down right didn’t enjoy it. To get credit for the class I re-enrolled over the summer and took it at a smaller campus, the professor was awesome and I made sure I was in a study group so we could work together on projects and studying!
These are adorable and great for girls! I love the zipline!
This is so way cool, my little girl would love it!! I think we fail all the time as parents but then keep on going. I remember once sure my kiddo was lying to me then found out he wasn’t, I have never felt so bad, but we talked about it and I told him that parents make mistakes too!
This is really awesome to see. Finally a toy that’s not 100% pink and lets girls know they can build things too. My husband’s an engineer and he’s going to love the idea of this for our daughter.
I failed once when I was putting too much on my plate as a new mom and going to school to get my bachelors degree, I had to drop the class and retake it since my family was more important. I love this toy for my girls.
I sometimes feel like I failed my relationship with my high school sweetheart, when I was WAY younger. But I bounced back by finding and falling in love with my now, husband of 8 years and counting. 🙂
I studied abroad and had a hard time learning the language. I switched schools, and ended up having a great experience.

I recently failed a test to obtain my recertification because I didn’t study or prepare. Studied and then took it again and passed with flying colors.
Long ago when I was learning computer programming (1983) I wrote a program that had a loop and the program would never finish. I had to start over and finally found my problem. I love programming now.
Thanks for the contest.

My first year of college I failed a class because i was just not prepared for the coursework. But I picked myself up, re-dedicated myself to my schoolwork and graduation from undergrad and grad school
If I hadnt failed, i wouldnt have realized that what it takes to succeed
DIY projects are my biggest fails. I stained an unfinished bookcase once and it came out HIDEOUS despite the sales person’s assertion that it was “just like polishing a car.” I ended up restaining it with a faux finish effect and it looked much better.
I got really sick in college and had to drop down to only one class. Once I got better I went back to full time and graduated. It took me longer than other people but I did it!
When I was in 4th grade in summer camp, there was a trust building group activity that terrified me. I faked an asthma attack to get out of doing it. But the next week when they were doing it again, I went for it and did it. Woohoo!
Well, I went through a really messy divorce and five years later, I’m doing fine. 😀 I would like to donate this kit to our salon to keep the kids busy that come along with their moms. You wouldn’t think so many women would bring babies/toddler/kids to a two hour hair appt but there they are…
I was let go from my first job out of college – I was a terrible fit for the job, but was trying to make it work, and my manager realized before I did that I needed to go. But a few weeks later, I found a job I LOVE, and I’m still here 6 years later!

My big fail was cooking a meal for my girl scout cooking badge. I made corn fritters for my family. I thought tsp stood for tablespoon, so I put a tablespoon of salt in. Yea, I learned it stood for teaspoon, and I’ve never forgotten this since.

I was pretty unprepared as a substitute teacher, having taken the ‘fake it til you make it’ advice a little too close to heart. After an extremely difficult year filled with problems, I quit and vowed never to go back to the classroom again. After a year of working retail, I found an opportunity to work in a Montessori school and receive training at an out-of-state program for free. Having that second chance reinvigorated my views on teaching and I had many rewarding years in the classroom since then!
There was this time when I was wondering if I could pass a math course. I failed the first semester. I put in extra time, got a tutor, stayed after class, and scraped a D+ by the end of the year.

The first time I can remember was when I was about 7 or 8. I just couldn’t get the hang of riding a bike. Always falling down skinning my knees and elbows. Finally after about two weeks I could ride my bike with out help real well. I really thought I was a big girl back then
I live with chronic illness so I often feel like I’m failing when I have a flare up and can’t do even basic activities for a while. But I try not to blame myself because that just makes it harder to recover!
I didn’t do too well with speech at a young age. I went to speech classes and bounced back. Now I can’t stop talking. Hehe.

I failed to produce the desired results for a job thankfully i learned from it and got a better job
As a child my brothers would always climb trees. I was teased because I was too scared to climb. One day I tried when no one was around. It took me forever but I finally did it. The next time my brothers were climbing trees I went right up there with them.
