It’s a new school year and it’s not always just the kids with those jitters! As moms and dads we all want our children to succeed and do well in school. I don’t know about you but so many times I feel so inadequate to answer my kids school related questions. As the kids are growing older, the content they are learning is tougher.
When I first began teaching my children I wondered how I would ever help them learn to read first of all, but beyond that how would I ever teach them calculus? Their education loomed over me like some huge monster I couldn’t tame.
And then one day I realized that what I was doing was teaching my kids to learn on their own. When you can learn on your own, you can learn anything! I didn’t have to know everything before I started, I just needed to find the tools to learn and teach them to learn. The realization was so exciting.
Now more than ever before there are so many wonderful resources to help parents on their journey of educating their children. Parents can learn right alongside their kids and fill in those holes left empty from their own education.
With the Common Core State Standards in schools across the country, children are learning new concepts. The Homework Help desk has worked with teachers and parents to identify the new concepts in Math and English Language Arts (ELA) that parents are struggling with the most. The goal is to equip you with the knowledge and support you need to help your children learn. Isn’t that exciting?
We no longer need to feel helpless. Help is just a click away!
