Field trip to the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History

CC field tripWe are so thrilled to be going on field trips this year as a part of our homeschooling.  Our first field trip was to the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History with our Classical Conversations Community.  I love being able to spend time with these sweet families!

PlanetariumWe started our learning experience in the Planetarium.  We are studying the stars and planets so it was the perfect field trip.  I wondered how my little guy would do in the pitch black, but he just clung to me and looked around at the stars!

a bed of nailsWe explored the museum for a little while and then headed to the hands on section.  This has always been our favorite part.  Experience it learning!  The girls thought it was so neat that they could lay on a bed of nails and not get hurt.  They learned about distribution.

Building blocksWhile the girls explored the entire section, the boys found the building blocks and were completely happy.

Building at Fort Worth Museum of ScienceThe blocks aren’t just for boys though.  The girls were going for a tower as tall as they are, and they would have succeeded, I think, if I hadn’t told them it was time to move on.

Building tracksNext we headed to the Children’s Museum area where my boys lived it up!

dinosaur digWe concluded our time outside at the dinosaur dig.  I might have stayed a little longer, but Bobby went and walked though the little stream, tennis shoes and all!  It was lunch time, my baby was all wet, and I certainly wanted to get out of Fort Worth before the traffic got really bad in the afternoon so we headed home.

The big news is that I did drive to Fort Worth with all five kids!  Though I’m still apprehensive to drive in traffic with the kids, it is getting easier now that the older kids are such a huge help…well, WHEN they are a huge help, but going somewhere fun if great motivation.

We had a great time learning, exploring, and visiting with friends.  I’m looking forward to more field trips!
