Tuesday was just such a great day. It was tutor appreciation day at the Classical Conversations Community where I tutor, and I was showered with cards and gifts.
Then my husband called and said that he’d been shorted vacation hours ever since he took this job and now has five extra days of vacation! Later he called and told me that Taco John’s was giving away tacos so why didn’t we do that for supper, and I didn’t have to cook.
A couple of things just melted my heart. I walked into my oldest daughter’s bedroom, and she was sitting there reading her Bible. When I asked her why, she said, “I love the book of Matthew.”
My six-year-old had found a little chunk of tile that morning and she was very proud of it. It really was pretty with a swirl of blue on one side. She carried it around all day. In the evening she came and told me she had something to give me. She presented me with her treasured rock and said, “I wanted to give you this . . . for Thanksgiving.”
Then later she made me laugh when she came to me ready with her memory verse, “Pray without sneezing!” (It should have been, “Pray without ceasing,” from 1 Thessalonian 5:17.)
This post is linked to Women in the Word Wednesdays.

What a lovely day!
That is really, really special. All of it. But I think especially the Bible reading. “I love the book of Matthew.”
I pray everyday for God to change my heart to love Him and His Word more than anything.
Apparently, you’re doing something right in raising your kids to love Jesus.
What a blessing…it’s the smallest things that happen when we open our eyes to see the hand of God moving everyday.
Oh Esther, I SO need a day like this one. I’m so glad that your day was so wonderful. Thanks for sharing that.
And just think, your lovely day spread sunshine over all of us!
How sweet! <3
Esther – This post made me want to get in to a group hug with your family! 🙂 I can sense the love, the faith and the joy you guys exude!
Hilarious, I love kids’ quotes … Judging by the header at the top of your page it looks like you have some mischievous, lively children – especially the eldest …
Thanks for the great idea for gifts for teachers–loved reading this post, especially the Pray without sneezing quote! I signed up as a follower and look forward to reading more!
I LOVE your blog and your kids sound so adorable. So great to read the funny and cute things they say. I have 4 sons and they grew up way too fast!!!
