Faith, age nine, was playing at the house of a friend with a little three-year -old girl. She was being a big help because this little girl was a live wire! Faith let her play with her new little Webkinz. Her only Webkinz. The tag was still attached with the very important code that allows a child to unlock all the online features for each particular pet.
Faith was being very patient, but kept gently asking the little girl to please not tear off the tag because it was very important. The little girl kept taunting her and finally just ripped it off–on purpose.
I braced myself, even coming out of my chair in anticipation of my daughter’s wrath. Faith made a sad face, took a deep breath and said, “It’s okay. Everyone makes mistakes,” and kept right on playing with her.
My heart was bursting for my sweet girl who had shown kindness even when she had been deliberately wronged. This gave me hope that my children are listening, and they are learning. Those days when it feels as if all my kids do is fight, I want to remember this little incident.

Wow!!!! That is amazing and a wonderful example to us adults (at least me) to be slow to be angry and to bear with one another in love.
Wow, your daughter is amazing! That is such a heartwarming story, thank you for sharing it with us!
Someof us grown-ups could learn much from your little girl. 🙂
Oh, how heart warming. You must be very proud!
What a good patient little girl!
Your daughter did such a great job! I agree that us adults could learn from her.
Wow! What a great example…even for us “grown-ups!” Such a great girl!
Personally, I want to spank that 3 year old.
How precious! What an amazing testimony that they are listening and watching and learning by watching you 🙂
What a precious daughter you have! What a lesson in grace and mercy she showed that three year old.
Thanks for linking up to Making Your Home Sing Monday!
Wow…talk about living out the Fruit of the Spirit! I could sure learn a thing or two from her!
I was driving when someone in the back seat read this to me from their phone. I almost had to pull over because my eyes were misting. How absolutely sweet of her!! I hope she never changes and always has that sweet servants heart! <3
So sweet.
Love it when the values we teach actually emerge — how encouraging.
That’s called good parenting! I don’t how many other kids would of reacted like that. Your daughter has a good heart. Thanks for sharing that because I know there are times when I don’t get it right and how my man reacts to me and saying it’s ok. And thank you for the reminder that sometimes things happen, but it’s your reaction that counts the most.
Wow, Esther! That is such a testament to the teaching of you and your hubby. I don’t know too many children who would have responded that way. My hats off to you.
