Back to school! How are you adjusting? Me? I’m still in denial. We had such a lovely summer that I’m having a hard time letting go and getting back to the daily grind of school. Planning some fun things for the kids does help get me and the kids excited about getting back into our school schedule.
My daughter and I had a great time shopping at Target and planning for the perfect school lunch for my 6 year old minion. He loves everything minion so much so that his cousin seriously asked his mom one day, “Mom, Little Jason does know that he can’t grow up and be a minion right?” Ha ha! Sometimes I wonder if I should encourage him, but I’m quite the fan myself if I must say so.
What you need to make a minion lunch:
- slice of bread
- yellow and white slices of cheese
- fruit strip (We used Simply Balanced.)
- bananas (of course)
- favorite fruits and veggies
- Wet Ones Singles to clean sticky little hands
We used the cardboard on the back of a notebook to “cut out” a minion shape from the bread and cheese.
Next we cut the fruit strip in half making it the appropriate proportion for the strap that holds on minion glasses. Then using scissors we shaped the edges to fit the minion.
Then we cut a circle in the white cheese. I found a children’s medicine cup the right size, and then found the back of a marker to cut the circle for the eyeball, just simple things we found around the house! Tada!
Little Jason was out running errands with Daddy while the girls and I put together his minion school lunch. I couldn’t wait to show it all to him. He ran to the table and yelled, “Minion!” He was so excited.
One thing I have been notorious for forgetting in my kids school lunches is something to clean their hands. I loved finding Wet Ones Singles in the school supplies aisle–such a great idea. I have my box of Wet Ones in the pantry by the kids’ school lunch supplies. Now their sticky little fingers will be easily cleaned with a Wet Ones Single packed nicely in their lunch box.
