Make your own pizza kid’s meal is something we love to do. It’s super simple to put together. Kids love creating their own. And who doesn’t love to eat pizza right?
I start with a super simple bread machine pizza crust. I have been making this recipe for years. The recipe makes two 12 inch pizzas.
What you need:
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cups bread flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 2 1/2 teaspoons bread machine yeast
Put all of the ingredients in your bread machine pan and select the dough cycle. My bread machine actually has a pizza dough cycle that I use. I mixes the ingredients, kneads the dough, and then lets it rest a while before it’s complete. They cycle takes an hour and a half.
When the dough is done I just divide it according to how much each person will eat. I don’t worry about getting them all the same size. If a slightly bigger pizza needs more baking time then just leave it in a little longer! I give each child their dough on a square of tin foil and let the kids knead the dough as long as they want to. Then just make sure and spray the foil with non stick cooking spray before they begin shaping their pizza. Sometimes I forget and it’s a little tricky to peel the foil off, but hey it happens! 😉
Then let them shape their dough however they want to. We’ve made heart shaped for Valentine’s Day before, but usually most of the kids just make round pizzas anyway.
These are super simple with ready made Ragu pizza sauce, shredded cheese, and pepperoni. All of my kids love these three, but feel free to add more toppings. Sometimes the make faces with the veggies.
Ready for the oven! I put three or four on a cookie sheet and bake them together. Place in a 450 degree heated oven for about 12 minutes. Watch the pizzas toward the end to be ready to take them out at desired doneness.
Enjoy your pizza party!!
