Recently someone asked me how I decorate for Christmas. I thought for a second and replied, “I go light on the decor and heavy on the food!” For me what makes the holidays great is warm, cozy time spent with family. And what brings family together more than great food?
I am always looking for easy dishes that taste extraordinary! Whether you’re serving a Christmas brunch, have family crashing in your spare bedroom, or are spending your holiday at home with the kids, this Easy Jimmy Dean® Sausage Squares recipe is a great addition to your celebrations.
This cheesy breakfast dish is hearty stuffed with Jimmy Dean Sausage, bacon, and cheese. I also love to throw in some jalapenos for a little kick. Mmmm!
Head to Walmart to purchase your ingredients, because, let’s face it, this time of year we are always needing all kinds of things on our trips to the store. I love being able to get everything I need at one stop. I save so much time and money @Walmart! Find Jimmy Dean Premium Pork Sausage in the refrigerated section!
What you’ll need:
- 1 pound Jimmy Dean Sausage
- 6 slices bacon
- 2 (8 oz) tubes Great Value Crescent Rolls
- 16 oz package Great Value Finely Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
- 8 oz cream cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped jalapeno peppers
I like to save on clean up and use the same pan. Fry the bacon until crisp. Drain on paper towels. Crumble. There’s nothing like the smell of bacon and sausage cooking to get the masses up and asking, “What’s for breakfast?” But cooking the bacon and sausage can be done ahead to save cooking time in the morning too.
Remove the bacon drippings from the pan, and add the Jimmy Dean Sausage. Fry the sausage until brown or sausage reaches (170’F).
Drain the fat from the sausage if desired, and then add the block of cream cheese to the pan breaking it up and stirring until it is melted.
Open the first tube of Great Value crescent rolls and gently pat it into an ungreased 13×9 inch baking pan with about a 1/2 inch crust up the sides of the pan.
Next sprinkle the sausage and cream cheese mixture spreading it evenly across the crescent crust. Then layer the bacon, jalapenos, and Great Value Sharp Cheddar Cheese.
Next press the second tube of Great Value Crescents on a sheet of wax paper into a 13×9 inch rectangle. Then carefully turn the wax paper crescent side down over the 13×9 inch pan. Gently peel the wax paper off the top crust.
Bake the casserole in a preheated 375°F oven for about 25 minutes or until it is golden brown. Remove from oven and cool 10 minutes. Serve immediately.
Yummy! My family loves these Jimmy Dean Sausage Squares!
