Our day of sight seeing in northern Minnesota began at the Soudan Mine and then took us to Veteran Memorial Park in Virginia, Minnesota. The bronze statue is named “Soldier to Soldier Even the Fallen Stand Tall.” My dad is a veteran, and he asked to have his photo taken in front of the memorial. The eagle has always been his favorite bird. It is beautiful!
As usual I was the one taking photos and not in them, but I remembered here and asked my sister in law to snap a photo. My mom was beside her motioning for me to suck it in. I got a good laugh afterward about that! Mom said, “Well, after eight pregnancies…” Ha ha! Guess who started working out when I got home from this trip? ๐
We spent a lot of time in the car driving around so the kids were thrilled to see a play ground. I watched from afar as Bobby my two year old ran right over to the lake. I yelled for him to come back and I was glad I did because otherwise I think he would have stepped right in the lake.
This is beautiful country! We fell in love with it. Jason was looking at real estate at talking about moving. I don’t know how serious he was as he likes to dream, but it sure is gorgeous this time of year.
There were lots of vacationers with boats in the area. The hotel where we stayed was full. If you’re going to Minnesota, don’t be like us and wait till the last minute to book hotels. That usually works great for us, but we ended up spending…$120 per night. Gasp. I don’t think we spent that much on our honeymoon.
Veteran Memorial Park is a neat little stop, the next time you’re in the area!

Just remember… Minnesota is not Texas… SNOW!
That’s right. Lots of snow. And it’s lovely. But Esther would be house-bound the whole winter ๐
Yeah your husband would love Minnesota until the snow hits. ๐
