Thanks to the kindness of our Disney cab driver, here is our third family picture! If I am not mistaken, these on our vacation are the first ones since the ones taken when Bobby was first born! I’m so happy to have some new ones!
Our young’uns were excited to arrive at the kids area at the Disney Vacation Club. It looked like a fun place. The kids could play with toys, watch movies or play video games. They loved it!
We were promised that the Disney Vacation Club spiel would not be high pressure, and boy were they right. In fact it was so much the opposite that I could have been offended if I was of the mind to be. 🙂
We sipped on coffee and cookies until a man came and sat down next to us. He asked us where we were staying (Everyone kept wanting to know where we were staying.) and we could not remember the name of the hotel. We had booked all of our hotels through Priceline.com, but for our entire trip we stayed at five different hotels. We hadn’t been to the hotel that we booked in the Orlando area yet since we had arrived early and could not check in until the afternoon, but I don’t think anyone believed us that we didn’t know where we were staying.
Then he asked us how many kids we had. That was the clincher. He asked if we had looked at staying on the Disney property. We had but the best deal I could find for a family of seven was $1500 for two nights–crazy! He said, “Let me save us both some time. If you are not prepared to spend at least $350 a night on a hotel for your family then I can’t help you.” Uh…okay nope he was not going to be able to help us then. We have never even paid half that. In fact the most we paid for a hotel on our trip was $45! Now I would have kept my mouth shut about how much we spent for hotels in the Disney area, but my husband could not stand it.
“We paid $25 a night per room!” Jason was so excited. Why not just wear a T-shirt with big red letters “Rednecks at Disney!” Ha ha! But it was true! It was a very nice Disney Neighborhood hotel for $25 a night! We are proud of our Priceline.com shopping skills!
The man’s reaction didn’t disappoint. “I don’t even know how that is possible! Do you even want to look at the rooms here?” I felt pretty stupid at that point, but oh well. I had come that far so I figured I might as well see what I will miss out on my whole life! He galloped us through the rooms, gave us our promised Disney Park fast passes and took us to pick up our children who were not happy to see us so soon…
until they heard we could have free ice-cream. Disney does do things well! Everyone received a scoop of their choice.
And then sat at the cute tables to enjoy
After we left we checked into our $25 hotel, took the kids to Chick-fil-A for supper, and stopped by the grocery store for a loaf of bread to make PB&Js to take to Disney.
We wanted to get to bed early since the next day was our long anticipated day at The Magic Kingdom!

Haha ~ I guess he doesn’t know that it’s cool to be frugal these days!!
Great job of finding such awesome hotel deals for your vacation, Esther = )
