We took a day trip to Glen Rose, TX and had a marvelous adventure! Visiting Glen Rose had been on my list for years, and I was so glad to finally be heading that way. It’s an easy day trip from the DFW area, but there seems to be so much to do you might want to make it a long weekend or family vacation. I know we certainly plan to go back.
First on our list to visit was Dinosaur World. With my children’s ages ranging from 2-12, this was a perfect family outing! All of my kiddos loved the park. My son couldn’t get over the dino trash cans. They are pictured above. I agree. They are totally neato!
Entrance to the park is through a vast dinosaur gift shop. Come prepared. You’re dinosaur lover will find things they need to take home! 😉
My children HAD to take a few minutes to climb on the play ground!
If your kids are into dinosaurs, they will love Dinosaur world. The park is about 20 acres. You will walk on winding sidewalks and encounter a wide variety of dinosaurs.
The adults and older children in our family enjoyed reading about each dino along the way whereas, the younger ones preferred to just look and exclaim over each one.
The Bone Yard is included with the price of admission. Children excavate to uncover a dinosaur skeleton. The children loved it and parents enjoyed the break watching from picnic tables in this covered play area.
I had to laugh. With several children in the huge sand box, they ended up covering each others finds so that no one was actually getting anywhere!
We couldn’t resist this dino photo opportunity.
When purchasing tickets, we highly recommend buying the Excavation Pass that includes a Dino Dig ticket where kids can find real fossils and a Lucky Strike ticket for the Dino Gem Excavation. It is so worth it. We had so much fun we’ll be sharing more in tomorrow’s post. Also buy the $1 a bag fish food. You’ll be glad you did!
At the end of our walk through the park we found a Dinosaur museum! We rushed though it as our little ones were tired and hungry. I’d like to go back and read to learn more.
I packed a picnic lunch to take with us, and I was so glad I did. There were plenty of picnic tables in the shade to enjoy our picnic at the park. This worked out great as we didn’t have to stop and go drive somewhere to find something to eat.
