We’re loving summer, but boy this Texas heat can be a killer. I try to get the kids outside in the mornings and evenings before it gets too hot. In the middle of the day when I’d like things to calm down some, it’s fun to rent DVD’s that encourage imagination!
We rented Dino Dan: Dino Tracker- Ready Set Dino from Redbox yesterday and the kids really enjoyed it. They learned lots about dinosaurs. One of my girls was telling me all about the different dinosaurs afterward. I laughed as she tried to pronounce the different names. I laughed because I can’t say them either. It was precious because she had actually taken notes so that she could remember things about the various dinosaurs, but then she couldn’t read her writing afterward. I love that she is thinking though and wanting to learn.
After we watched the movie I found some downloads to go along with the DVD. (There is the mention of millions of years. We used this as an opportunity to talk about it with our children and explain to them why we believe in a young earth.)
Now that the kids are super excited about dinosaurs I took them online and showed them photos of the Dinosaur Valley State Park in Glen Rose Texas. They couldn’t believe that there are real dinosaur tracks that they can go and see. I’ve been wanting to plan a day trip to the area and now that they have dinosaurs on their mind I think we will go soon. Then they will be able to track dinosaurs too!
