After setting sail and enjoying the feel of the ship…cruising (yikes), we made our way to the orientation for Camp Carnival. You know the place where we would be able to leave our four kiddos so they could have lots of fun? Yep, I think we were the first ones there! Whose kids do you think got everyone dancing before it started? 🙂
Except for this little guy. I knew by his erratic behavior that he was exhausted. He usually goes kind of nuts to keep himself awake, but we pushed him past the limit. The poor thing just curled up and went to sleep in the midst of all the wild music and kiddos dancing and twirling. It was a blessing that he got a nap though because we still had a long night ahead of us!
We got a preview of the break dancers. I enjoyed this and wished we had been able to make it to their shows.
And for the moment I had been waiting for…fancy dining with five kids! Yeah, you can imagine, but it was fun when…someone wasn’t screaming! We got there early and had a table all to ourselves. Ha I really couldn’t imagine they would put us with anyone can you?
Now I wasn’t about to go through this experience and order a hamburger. The first night I went with the vegetarian option. It was a pie of sweet potato and I don’t remember what all else with polenta. It was…fun to try it! I wouldn’t say it was my favorite thing on the planet, but fun! We tried things like scallops and alligator fritters while we were there. Why not?
After supper we took the kids for the first two hour session of Camp Carnival and headed to the family game show with Bobby. This was hilarious. The audience out did themselves doing weird things to get on stage and it was a lot of laughs watching the show.
I couldn’t believe how fast our two hours went, and then it was time to pick up the kids. Little Jason had so much fun! With painting a t-shirt and face paint who wouldn’t? “Can I go there again?” he asked.
The girls were equally excited! We lined them up just outside our rooms. They couldn’t wait to wake up in the morning and rejoin all of their new friends!
And this was the last surpise of our first day on the ship. We did so much. It was hard do believe that just the day before we had been at Busch Gardens!

Why not??? Is this coming from the same girl that had been tricked into trying haggis???
And little Jason – that picture makes my neck hurt. But hey – when you gotta sleep you gotta sleep.
Sounds like a fun first day! I’d be exhausted!
What a full day! When Alan and I went on a cruise, we were alone. It was a bit more relaxing… It looks like your kids had fun, though.
I’m so glad you had a good time! I love cruising. I hope some of my advice panned out for you.
