Christmas shopping–Are you done yet? This last week I was able to get some done before my van went into the shop. When I took it in I had no idea I’d be without a vehicle for DAYS! I was glad that I had made it to Academy Sports and Outdoors last week. I went in search of a Daisy Red Ryder BB Gun for my eldest daughter Faith who is eleven years old. You can read about my entire shopping experience at my Google+ story!
They are so pretty! I thought $24.99 was a great price.
Look! It’s pink! Which one would you have picked? We decided on the classic wood since we hope our boys will use it too when they are olde enough. While we were there we also picked up some BBs, targets, and safety glasses so she will be all set!
I grew up in South Texas on about ten acres. Guns were a part of life–and something I enjoyed. My dad was very strict. We were taught how to handle a gun as well as gun safety. The first gun I was able to handle was a BB gun. I felt so grown up after watching my brother who was four years older than I target shoot and hunt. It was finally my turn. I was never as good as my brother, but I did win a target shooting competition at camp one year in my age division. I was pretty proud of that!
My kids are growing up in the big city completely different from my upbringing, but I want them to experience some of the wonderful outdoor family activities I did when I was little. They recently all got to ride horses, and I am looking forward to taking them back for more education and longer rides.
I can’t wait to get started with my daughter! I think I’m going to watch A Christmas Story with her again before Christmas to build the excitement!
We will also be going over gun safety before my daughter ever even opens the box. We wouldn’t want her to “shoot here eye out.” Har Har! I liked that Daisy Outdoor Products has a list of Safety Rules to help me out with that!
We are excited to be able to offer a Daisy Prize Pack that includes either a Daisy Red Ryder or a Pink Carbine Model 1998 (your choice), BBs, and safety glasses to one of our readers! How cool is that? It’ll be just in time for Holiday Gifting!

I like the Pink Carbine Model 1998.
My kids all love BB gun shooting. “A Christmas Story” is one of my husband’s favorite movies!
Cute wrapping paper, your daughter will love it!
I love the wrapping paper you chose. This is so much fun! And just in time for Christmas too.
How neat! I bet she will love it!
When my dad bought a Daisy BB gun for my brother, he made him memorize the list of safety rules that was packaged with the gun (and quote the rules back word-for-word perfect). If I remember correctly, they were called the Ten Commandments for Gun Safety or something like that.
I had to memorize the rules too, when I showed an interest in shooting. Living on the farm in Arkansas, we often hunted small game for our supper. I learned how to shoot a .22 and a .410 during that time.
I like the Pink Carbine Model 1998 because it is the one my daughter wants. Thanks for hosting this giveaway!

I love the pink carbine model 1998 because it’s pink! Anything pink is great in my book 🙂
I’m a fan of pink. I would have gone with the Pink Carbine. I love that you are passing down traditions to your children. That’s so very important these days.
