This is our fourth year to use Classical Conversations as a part of our homeschooling curriculum. The first year we began in a community where I also tutored. For many reasons, but mostly because we had Bobby, we decided to continue our Classical Conversations Curriculum at home. This year with Bobby almost two and a new community starting in walking distance from my home we were excited to join in again.
It has been so much fun for all of us. Though I loved tutoring my class years ago, I don’t miss all the work, time, and preparation it took to do it. I love being able to go to the community and just be a mom. I take turns visiting each of my girls’ classes and just get to learn with them and cheer them on. It’s also so fun to be able to visit with other moms. This has become a day we all look forward to, and I love how the kids are showing initiative to get ready for the next week of CC to learn their memory work and prepare their presentations.
My girls are all blessed to have wonderful tutors. All of them do such a great job of showing Christ’s love to the kids while presenting new memory work and walking them through science experiments, fine arts, and oral presentations.
Oh I have to share something my daughter said in class one day that just cracked me up. As the kids were learning the new memory work, my daughter pointed out that desert looks like dessert. “Yes,” replied her tutor, “but do you know what the difference is?”
“Yes!” answered my daughter enthusiastically, “the desert is hotter!”

I’m so glad you found a community that is a good fit for your family. I’m jealous! I wish ours was within walking distance! Showing Christ’s love to kids and other Moms is by far the MOST IMPORTANT role of a CC tutor!!!! : )
