It’s Christmas time!! How I love the holidays! Each year after Thanksgiving we do a family kick off party to get into the spirit of the season. Sometimes it’s a decorating party. Other times it’s just a family night, but my kids look forward to it every year.
Special food and drinks! This year we had a snack party after supper. I love that special does not have to mean I spent hours in the kitchen. I threw this holiday party together in just a few minutes. Cookies were sent from Grandma! I popped some microwave popcorn, and put out some fruit and holiday candy.
The special drink tradition started before I had children. Every occasion HAS to have a festive special drink. It’s just not a holiday without one and the kids know it.
This year we enjoyed treats from International Delight. Eggnog and Hot Chocolate are Christmas time musts! My favorite was International Delight’s Very Vanilla Nog and my daughter preferred the Classic Nog. They are both good!
This year International Delight introduced Hot Chocolate Heat & Drink Beverages in Dark Chocolate and Milk Chocolate. For an easy, rich hot chocolate just pour in your cup and heat in the microwave. Actually, my kids liked it both cold and hot!
Christmas jammies! You’ve just got to get all decked out in holiday pjs. It’s just not as much fun if you don’t. These cute duds came as a gift from their grandparents on their dad’s side. We opened them just before the party!
Games! A family that plays together stays together! So much bonding and ample teaching moments to be had over good old fashioned table games. Our crew loves family game night.
And this is how we get into the spirit of the season!
