Since we had seen that the Chinese Lantern Festival was at Fair Park in Dallas when we were at the Texas State Fair, I have wanted to visit. We actually peeked through the fence so we knew it was really neat. The festival will be open every night through February 17. If you’re looking for a neat outing in Dallas you won’t want to miss this one. We found discounted tickets on Groupon!
Jason’s dad was in town for the weekend, so it was a good excuse to get out and do something fun.
I loved the castle. The Chinese Lanterns are actually from China. The were made in the city of Sichuan where much of the lantern making is done in China. Small pieces and materials were shipped to the US and sent to Dallas on trucks.
A team of over 40 came from China to construct the exhibits at Fair Park. This is a one of a kind festival. It will not be traveling to other cities in the US. This is a one of a kind chance to see the beauty of authentic Chinese lanterns.
Our family ooed and ahed for about an hour and forty five minutes. Even our little boys loved looking at all the lights.
I told my husband this would be a very romantic location for a date…if we went on dates. He leaned over and kissed me in front of everyone so I counted it! Ha ha!
We didn’t see any show, but since there was a stage….
Lots of great family fun. It was getting kind of late to keep the kids out when we left so we came home and ate supper, but I’m still craving Chinese food! It just seems right to eat Chinese after a Chinese Festival, but I’ll take a rain check!
