Oh my goodness, it had been years since I had a beauty consultation and purchased new colors! I was so excited to learn that participating Walmart locations have on site beauty consultants.
My husband and I hadn’t been on a date in…well I don’t remember the last time. It has to be at least a year ago! We have been busy with so many things from our overnight stay at the Great Wolf Lodge, to me leaving the family and traveling to Peru, to experiencing loss through miscarriage. If we ever could have used a date night, it was now and, I was so, so thankful for the opportunity.
I walked in Walmart and found the Health & Beauty section. As I walked through the aisles I found Brandi walking around and ready to help.
The first thing I noticed about Brandi is that she wore her make-up beautifully. I felt comfortable and easy hearing all of her beauty suggestions for me. I took a lot of her time! It was so much fun to hear about so many new and wonderful products.
I learned about Regenerist from Olay. This cream penetrates fast and speeds up surface cell turnover to give visible results from the first use! This sounds like a great anti-aging moisturizer!
Since it had been so long since I’ve had a make-up update, I asked Brandy to help me choose colors for both everyday wear as well as for dressing up on my date night. One of my favorite products that I purchased was the Olay BB Cream.
This is a tinted moisturizer with SPF 15. It gives me just a little color for everyday while protecting my skin from the sun. It also is not super shiny but goes on really nice. I love this product!
Brandi told me I had to have a new nail color for my date and I’m so glad she recommended CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss. I did my nails for my date night. Today, (I kid you not) three days later, my daughter Joy was looking at my nails and asked me when I painted them. I told her three days ago. “Wow that’s amazing, because it looks like you just did them!” It’s true. Three days later and they haven’t even begun to chip or show wear. I’m impressed!
Another favorite item was CoverGirl Outlast lip color. It is great! I’m not one that looks in the mirror to refresh my make-up through the day, and it seems the first thing to go is always the lipstick color. This color stays on! I got the Nude color so it is light and natural, but still a pretty color!
I went home with so many wonderful products. My daughter Joy was with me through the consultation and had fun picking out her own lip gloss as well.
I was so excited to go home and try on my new colors. I’ve been so tired of feeling frumpy! These are the colors I bought for a natural/everyday look. I don’t usually wear much make-up so I thought I would look more made up, but I really didn’t. I loved the look!
And here is my date night look! For my date night I used a CoverGirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 foundation in Classic Ivory. I also used a CoverGirl lip stick Heavenly over my Outlast lipcolor, and then finished the look with CoverGirl Wet Slicks lip gloss in Shimmer Shell. I also loved the eye colors Brandi recommended for me. To see more of the products check out my Google+ album!
It was so fun to have my husband come home and see me all dressed up for him. He loved the new me!
We left the kiddos in good hands and were thrilled to be out by ourselves! After pondering all the restaurants in the area we ended up at Anamias, one of our favorite Mexican places. We talked over chips and salsa and awesome tacos. It was so relaxing to eat without five kids!
Then we headed to the movies. We went with a blast from the past Jurassic Park in 3D! It was so much fun. I still love the 3D experience. Man those dinosaurs were after me! At one point my husband jumped, and I screamed. We were like a couple of kids!

Walmart has onsite beauty consultants now? Who knew?
You look fabulous, Esther ~ LOVE your new colors!!
And I never thought that you ever looked “frumpy”….at.all.
Dinner and a movie ~ sounds like you and Jason enjoyed a very fun evening together. Although…I think that I’d have nightmares after watching Jurassic Park in 3D ~ yikes!!!
Pretty makeup! So fresh and natural. 🙂
Long time reader 🙂 love the blog.. I would add a small amt of neutral blush (not pink lol) and buy some teeth whitner. I recently started using the $2 gel from walmart and it works. I hope I look half as good as you when I’m older
Ha ha ha! Well, my dentist appointment is this week so maybe they’ll fix my teeth. Too much coffee? 🙂
Oh my gosh, in my opinion, your teeth look FINE, Esther!!
Personally, I think it looks so obvious when people use teeth whiteners. The harsh chemicals cause a brightness that looks fake and totally unnatural.
Esther, your smile is gorgeous and natural looking ~ I wouldn’t change a thing!
Why do we (women) feel pressured into spending/wasting so much money on anti-aging products, hair color, facelifts, botox, liposuction, breast implants, body sculpting, etc.? What is wrong with the way that God created us?
You know that there is way too much emphasis on “perfection”, outer beauty, and youth in our culture when photos of a beautiful professional model still “need” airbrushing : (
You took the right daughter to enjoy the experience. I know you enjoyed the comment from the person who wants to look half as good as you when she is older. It’s funny to me because I’m OLDER. Or are we older and oldest? I still remember when I thought 40 was really old, though.
Wow looks like you had a blast getting new colors and having a fun date night! Way to go girl!
wow! Very nice makeover 🙂 I didn’t know this service was available at Walmart either. Sounds like a lot of mommy fun. I love makeup that you put on once and it lasts all day too! I used to wear that same lipstick until mth lips got so dry the lipstick would uncover all the cracks.
Esther, you look beautiful! And don’t ever worry about being frumpy — that word doesn’t even exist in YOUR dictionary!
You look beautiful Esther!! What a fun time!
