My girls are always wanting to create in the kitchen. Grace, Faith, and I came up with this together. First of all Grace wanted to make a sheep using apples, peanut butter, and chocolate chips. Even though there are black sheep, I didn’t think it would look like a sheep. “How about we make a porcupine instead?” I asked. She loved the idea. Faith is my artist and she helped us get the face just right.
This is such a fun easy snack for the kids to put together with just a little help.
What you need:
- Apples
- Peanut butter
- Chocolate chips
- Mini Chocolate chips
First you cut the apple just to one side of the core and seeds to make the body.
The trickiest part where kids may need some help is shaping the head. Take the remaining apple and cut a slice in the shape of a triangle. The cut the end off of the slice to make the head as pictured above.
The kids can then spread peanut butter generously on the apple half.
And then add the chocolate chips. They kids had so much fun making these little porcupines.
But of course eating them is the best part! Isn’t he cute!

These are so cute!! My 11 year old was looking over my shoulder and said that they look tastey so I guess that means we need to make them!
This is such a cute and tasty snack. Perfect for the apple season. Can’t wait to try this after we do some apple picking. 🙂
