IHop is a great place to go for an inexpensive meal date with one of your children. Kids eat free after five (call to make sure it’s the same at your local restaurant) with the purchase of an adult entree. Joy was so excited to pick her own meal from the children’s menu. To be able to afford a dinner out with a big family we have learned to share meals, so for her to choose her own meal was certainly special. She ordered the create a face pancake. It came with the eyes, nose, and mouth, but they gave her a little package of yogurt to make the hair. She had a blast! We chit-chatted through our meal and then I took her to a near by store to get her a much needed pair of tennis shoes. How grown up she acted when it was just her and Mom!

Cute! You’re such a cool mom! 🙂
I bet she had a great time! How fun.
That looks delicious! It’s great that you still find the time to give them “mommy time,” even though I bet you wish you could just sit down and rest.
I guess this is about the most you’ll get for a while…:)
YAY!!! Implementing kid dates 🙂
Aren’t they amazing when we invest that one on one time?
Love,
Karen
Ooo- the best is when the mess is not yours to clean up! I find myself completely baffled by a place that actually lets kids eat for free. Does it really happen? FOR FREE? That is quite something. (PS, the me-being-mean recipe is really easy. Leave out the brandy, and get instant custard and I am sure Joy can pull it off!)
Oh yes, very nice… Coming from a country where nothing is really free, this looks amazing!
How fun!
That’s awesome, Esther! What a special time for you and your daughter. I hope they have the same deal when I have grandkids! 🙂
What a great thing to do with your daughter. My 16 year old has always loved going to Ihop on our days out. For some reason, it really means something to her. When you have several children, those one on one times are precious. I know my kids always thoroughly enjoy them. And they do act more grown up when it’s just one of them alone with me. I guess they’re not trying to compete for my attention 🙂
I remember how much more grown up my children acted when they were not all together competing for attention. That really looked like fun!
I really treasure the one on one time with my kids. They are so different when it’s just the two of you.
That is so sweet….I need to start doing more one on one things with them. With the two sets, someone is always getting lost in the “crowd”.
Found you on Blog Frog in the GFC follow. I love taking my little men out separately for some one on one time.
I’m going to add that to my list!
