It’s that time of year again. You know, the weather is gorgeous. I want to open all the windows and air out the house. Surely it’s a great time for a hike right? It would all be so perfect if not for the horrible allergies that plague my husband and daughter. I am absolutely forbidden from opening windows. It’s not even safe in our family van. We arrive at our destination miserable from traveling in a stuffy van with no air. My husband cannot stand to have all that pollen blowing on him.
Thankfully his Rav4 is newer and has a space for an allergy filter. He was so excited when I told him about FRAM Fresh Breeze! After looking up which filter we would need on the FRAM website, we went to Walmart to pick one up for him.
To read about our entire shopping trip as well as (ahem) all the fun we had at Walmart be sure to check out my Google+ album.
As soon as my husband got home we went to work installing our new FRAM Fresh Breeze car filter with Arm & Hammer Baking Soda to absorb odor. I was especially excited about the added benefits of Arm & Hammer. 😉
Are you a read the directions before you start a project kind of person? If so FRAM has step by step videos on the installation process. We are not the read the directions first sort of family. We’re the try to do it yourself until you’re so mad you’re kicking the thing and then go find the directions sort. But my husband had no trouble installing the new filter without directions. Two points for him!
The first thing is to locate the filter box. Ours is inside the glove compartment.
First he needed to remove the glove compartment. He had the thing off in no time.
Eww! I expected to find it dirty, but what I didn’t imagine were the chunks of things stuck in there!
Instal the new FRAM Fresh Breeze Filter.
There it is properly installed!
Here is when it got tricky. How to put the glove compartment back on!! Everything had gone so smooth that I had to razz my husband a little. You’ve got to click it in just right at the bottom!
Yea! It’s done! Now we look forward to allergy relief in the car. Thankfully we all fit in my husband’s car so when the pollen is especially bad we always have the option of taking his car.
Remember to keep your receipt because FRAM is offering a rebate on their Fresh Breeze filters! Woo hoo. Would you believe I had to rummage through my trash can for my receipt when I remembered the rebate? Oh come on. Act surprised! 🙂

I am so getting one of those!!!!!! My three-year-old’s allergies have been HORRIBLE the past several weeks.
And I LOVE the picture of your hubby at the end. He looks so proud of himself! 🙂
My cars are too ancient to have filters. But I will keep this in mind. Thanks so much for sharing!
I guess our cars are too ancient, too, because Dave just informed me we don’t have them, either. I was surprised he already knew this.
I love how your husband jumped right in without even reading the instructions. Sounds a lot like my husband.
Oh man, I could do with one of those – my allergies are killing me in this change of seasons. Now I just need to get myself a car!
I had no idea cars even had those! lol I wonder if my ’01 minivan has one. If so, it hasn’t been changed in 11 yrs. =)
