When I pulled into our cul-de-sac from my outing with my daughter my heart stopped. Blocking my driveway was an ambulance and a fire truck. My mind’s eye saw my husband and three remaining children, and I couldn’t even imagine what horrible thing could have happened while I was gone. I pulled over as fast as I could and jumped out. I saw a neighbor walking toward me and shouted, “What happened?” She told me that apparently something happened to my neighbor’s little boy and that they were working on him in the ambulance. Instant relief flooded my mind when I knew my family was okay, but it only lasted a second. It may not be my little boy in that ambulance, but it was my neighbor’s little boy. I ran over and hugged and cried with the family that was waiting.
The little boy had had a high fever and went into a seizure that lasted over three minutes. They had never seen or experienced this before. After the seizure passed, they took him to the hospital for tests. The doctors couldn’t find anything wrong with him. Thankfully, he came home later that night and seems to be well.
I’m linked to Gratituesday.

You are right–we need to remember to thank the Lord for His goodness every day. I hope the little boy continues to be okay, and I pray for the safety of you and yours.
always interesting writing
Oh. Wow. That would be frightening. Glad the little boy is okay.
Very true. We do indeed need to be more thankful … And yet, most of us get so comfortable in our excess and have learnt only to complain when things go wrong… Thanks (again) for the serious posts every now and then.
Wow I can’t imagine this happen to me it must being very nerv wrecking, God is good…
I’m glad the little boy is o.k. That was very kind of you to go over and give them a hug!
My little boy went through something similar several years ago, it turned out to be a febrile seizure. So good to hear he is okay.
I was reminded today just how Thankful I need to be with the people and things in my life. My cousin’s mother passed away suddenly last night. So very tragic.
Glad the little boy seems to be Ok that must of been very scary for you!
That is so scary! I can imagine how your heart must have dropped when you saw that ambulance. So glad he is OK.
It’s a relief to know at the end of the story that he came home safe.
I’m glad the little boy was ok. That happened to my son years ago when he was 3. He had a seizure and I had an ambulance come and get him. They ran all kinds of test on him but could never find out what made him have one. They put him on some meds for about 6 months and when he didn’t have any more seizures, they took him off of it. It’s definitely scary watching your child have a seizure.
These reminders to be thankful are always needed. I am glad it was all ok
Wow! That’s scary. Poor little boy. I’m so glad he’s okay! Was it a febrile seizure, do you think?
@Danielle, I’m not sure what kind of seizure it was. I don’t think they know nor will they do anything unless he has another one.
