After we relaxed at the World on a String Show, we went to feed the animals. Seeing and touching real animals is always a favorite thing for us city folks when we go to the fair. This year we actually splurged and bought food for the animals! The kids were so excited!
We found we had fallen into a pattern and had been going to the same things each year. This year Jason decided to make sure and try some different attractions. We had so much fun at the BMX bike show.
None of us keep up with the sport though Jason and I have seen a little on TV. It was so incredibly cool to see them ride and do their tricks right in front of our eyes. All of us enjoyed the show. Great call Daddy!
Next we went to the Birds of the World Show and though this has been a regular show for us we were so glad we made it as it was their last season. Faith was even chosen to go up and help with the show!
She got to throw the food in the air for the bird to catch! She was so excited!
And this has got to be the world’s greatest parrot! It’s so fun to hear him sing Old MacDonald had a Farm and other songs.
I think this is my favorite year out of all the times we went to the fair. Jason was relaxed and enjoyed the day so much that we stayed all evening. We saw the evening parade. I don’t think any of my kids remember going to a parade before, though we went to several when the oldest two were little.
It was a wonderful day, one that HAD to end in fireworks. We even stayed for the fireworks and fountain show! I will cherish this day. It was the kind of family day that you dream about. We were out doing some fun things, but we also all got along great, and laughed and enjoyed the day. There were no squabbles and fits like can sometimes seem to rule a well intentioned outing.
You know how there is usually that calm before the storm? That night my youngest woke me up in the middle of the night throwing up and with a high fever. We had all just shared a large lemonade at the fair! Of course! It turned out he had croup. I was worried that we would all get it, but just the two boys did. They are all well now.
