I don’t ask my children to draw me. I promise I don’t. They do it of their own free will–whether I like it or not! Grace proudly brought me this drawing.
“What is it?” I asked.
“It’s you,” she replied a little offended. Clearly I should have known better!
“See, there is the baby in your belly!” Sure enough! I was actually quite surprised that she drew a baby instead of just a fat belly, but I guess she has been to the doctor with me enough times and seen the sonograms. How neat that she actually pictures her baby brother when she sees my big belly! Oh and I love how my belly in the drawing actually goes into my face. Truly it feels that way!
“What’s the yellow part?” I asked her.
“That’s your skirt.”
I asked what the scratchy markings were below my skirt and she couldn’t tell me. Maybe she’s seen how hairy my legs are! Shaving isn’t quite as easy as it used to be you know!
The red circle she told me was Daddy’s ring and the little in the middle Mommy’s ring. I love the bigness of his ring in perspective! They really do see their daddy as a giant in many ways.
I will cherish this drawing, but, uh, I think I’ll hide the markers!

My goodness… I was enjoying the story until the hairy legs part…
This drawing is beyond precious. You have quite an artist on your hands. I agree that her detail s amazing.
I love it!! Be sure and write down what everything meant…oh wait a minute you just did!!:)
Have a great day Esther
I love the drawing of the baby inside your tummy! How adorable and a drawing to save forever. As for hairy legs – I am not prego so I have no excuse for my hairy legs!
I’m glad you asked what it all meant as I wouldn’t have figured it out. I love the way her mind works.
How sweet of her! I actually pictured the red part as your head and you were bending down to pink up something with that long purple arm… with a green leaf at the top? Love it!
So sorry you feel like your belly goes into your face Esther, LOL! Love that the baby is in your tummy 🙂
Very cute…love your skirt, but with a hot pink shirt? Come on, Esther…you need to rethink your color combinations.
One of my favorite/most embarrassing drawings by my daughter was during nursing. I looked perfectly normal except for the two very large circles in the middle…EEK!
I love children. They are truly fascinating! She has a keen imagination and a good eye for color. Thanks for the smile and for joining my linky!
wow her imagination is amazing, especially that she drew the baby that’s so cute…
This is why I cannot wait until I have a kid. Haha, so precious. I love the baby.
Hahahaha! The hairy legs cracked me up! It wasn’t too long ago that I couldn’t reach my legs either, or just didn’t even have the energy to try…
Ha! Ha! This is too cute! Stopping by from HHH.
I thought this was a before and after picture. The before picture is on the left, with the baby, and the long purple line is you after the baby…
Okay, maybe not right away, but with time 🙂
Seriously, though, I love the way kids look at things so differently. I could watch them all day. Oh wait, I do that already.
