A Day Of Shopping and Leisure With My Man

Our Weekend Getaway, Part 3

The beginning starts here.

The next morning the knocking, slamming, and laughing continued.  It turned out it was a junior high camp group!  Oh well, at least they had fun!  I certainly did not want to endure another night like that, though.  As we headed out to find some breakfast, Jason went by the hotel desk, explained what kind of night we had endured, and asked if there was any way we could move to a different room for the following night.  There was no need.  The group was leaving that morning.  To my husband’s great delight they offered us both free breakfast buffets at the hotel dining room!  He was so happy I think he would have let me endure another night of no sleep for free breakfast buffets!

While we ate a man asked me if I was twenty-nine.  I think I would have endured another night like that to receive such a compliment!  Ha!

After we had more than adequately stuffed ourselves, we went to watch the movie that we had missed the night before.  The matinee price was half the price of the regular show, so in the end we were happy that we had saved the money and enjoyed a much less crowded theater.

Then we found a beautiful shopping center with all my favorite stores.  We strolled around the brick laid roads and actually went shopping!  The last time my husband and I did any shopping other than grocery and wholesale clubs was…over five years ago.  We enjoyed our time trying on clothes and shoes without our four little tornadoes.  We were able to purchase some much needed items and had fun doing it.

We ended up eating a very late lunch.  We decided to try a place on the corner where we were shopping and were so glad we did.  The food was delicious.  I had a pecan-crusted-chicken salad with pear and Gorgonzola.  Jason went with the recommended mango topped tacos.  We savored every bite!

We had some time before the rodeo, so we went back to the hotel and took a nap!  Now I’m not THAT old.  I blame this completely on the junior high camp that kept me awake the whole night before!

What? Hotel naps are almost a necessity on vacation! Especially after a long night and a full day of shopping! Sounds like you guys had lots of fun!

Ah, I’ve finally found the time to read the last three days’ posts… You seriously crack me up. Do you ever have a “normal” day? Ha ha ha.

A junior high camp??? Where were their chaperones????!!!! I’ve been a counselor at junior high camps – one at a nice resort – and we NEVER let the kids run wild like that! You and your husband were way more patient than my husband and I would have been. We would have A) gone out in the hall and yelled at the kids (and I’m scary when I do that – kids listen!), B) called the desk right then and demanded that they deal with the problem, C) requested a refund for the night, and D) requested the name of the place the camp was from so we could complain to them directly.

Yeah, I know, we’re freaks. But we’re not afraid to fight for our customer service. My father-in-law is customer service’s worst nightmare. He never ever raises his voice or gets unreasonable or belligerent, but he gets exactly what he wants every single time. The man is magic.
