A Day in the Life of a Zookeeper

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Kronos.  All opinions are my own.

Kronos American Worker Jenny Theuman, ZookeeperMeet Jenny Theuman, zookeeper!  Now doesn’t zookeeper sound like the funnest job?  My girls would all sign up quick.  But the truth is that during those college age years most of us really don’t know what we want to do.  I know I flipped back and forth between majors.  Finally, I graduated with a counseling degree and then ended up teaching Spanish!

Kronos American Worker Jenny Theuman, Zookeeper #1in100MMJenny never imagined she’d be a zookeeper. She actually pursued culinary arts, but it wasn’t really a good fit. When a college counselor suggested zookeeping among a few other jobs she liked the sound of that. She thought, “You mean you get paid for that?” Jenny has been a zookeeper for 13 years now, and it’s her dream job.

Kronos American Worker Jenny Theuman ZookeeperSo many things make up her job as a zookeeper.  Working with the animals is only part of it.  She also gets to talk to children about the animals, clean the animal areas, and there is always paper work, but she loves her job and says she is excited to go to work every day.

1in100million“1 in one hundred million” is a site devoted to sharing the personal stories of people who do the many important and too-often unrecognized jobs that we all rely on. Kronos solutions focuse on the work that people do. I love that they share the story of these special individuals who reflect the character, the commitment, and the passion of today’s workforce.

Jenny’s story is just one, one in a hundred million actually.  Kronos is telling the beautiful stories of regular everyday workers that love their jobs and are living the dream. Take Zach Feary Stern, game tester from epsiode 13.  What a blast to grow up and play games every day for a living.  My daughter is already looking into this!

The American Worker Video Series from Kronos highlights the stories of Jenny, Zack, and others in their 1 in One Hundred Million Series. Each month, Kronos releases a new video to celebrate these special individuals and the work they love.  Subscribe! It’s free!
