We are on round two of our mother/daughter dates! I needed to run some errands and the baby was all fed so I sneaked Faith out of her room during quiet time! How fun is that?! We TALKED as I drove and made several stops. After my last errand I asked her if she would like to go get a Rita’s Italian Ice. She gave me her biggest smile–the one that shows off her beautiful dimples!
We had fun sampling the new flavors and then sat down. But there was a problem. Tom and Jerry was playing on the TV. As much as my daughter loves me I am no rival to Tom and Jerry. I tried talking to her, but she, riveted to the TV, didn’t even hear me. In fact I watched as she stuck her spoon into her cup and pulled the whole thing in her lap. That’s when I put an end to it. “It’s a nice day. Let’s go eat this outside where we can visit.”
We sat on a bench in the gentle breeze. I teased her about spilling her Italian Ice. Then I told her about how I had recently dropped a DVD twice before getting it into the player. Twice–how does one drop the same disc twice in a matter of seconds? She laughed with me and then told me about a time she dropped a whole slice of pizza at a buffet line and how a lady laughed at her. We swapped stories, enjoyed our Italian Ice, and laughed until tears ran down our faces. “Mom, sometimes the TV just gets in my way,” she said.
(My daughter gave me permission to share all about our date with you!)
I’m linked with Homemaking Link-up.

That is so sweet that you do that! I think thats a great a idea. I do rotate between my nephew and niece taking them somewhere. I love it!
I love Faith’s dimples. I’m glad you were able to steal some time together!
So glad you’re getting Faith’s permission to share stories. She’s getting to that age 🙂 Good job going outside to the bench!
Awww, that is so great!
That’s so cute! My kids love their one on one time!
in our house we call it the “tv coma”! so glad you got some alone time with your kiddo! she is so pretty. 🙂
Yeah Mom! I am glad you guys had fun and a talk! I hope you are feeling well and that baby is doing well also!
Glad you’re managing to squeeze in your dates even with a new baby, good for you!
I managed to do the double drop too, the other night at our prayer meeting I placed my bible on the seat in front, it slid onto the floor, I picked it up, placed it back on the chair and it fell again – and you guessed it I took a glance at my Mum, and we both giggled!!!
Why do we not have all these cool places where I live? I mean we just got our first “local (there was one about eight hours from where I live)” Sonic just two years ago (and I can get there/back in less than five minutes; even when there’s a line)? A Sonic Slush makes me VERY happy. Then again, I have never had anything else from there and never well. I am VERY picky, yet easy to please! I think that would make me an oxymoron?? And I can definitely be a moron, sometimes….okay lately, a lot of times! Now, we need a Ritas! Glad you had such a great time with your daughter! I would never have wanted an outing with my Mom as a little kid. It was obvious that she could NOT go more than 2.5 minutes without chewing me out about something since the day I was born! Please keep sharing your dates, with permission of course. Also, I recall reading somewhere on your BLOG that your kid’s names are not REALLY your kid’s name. How did you come up with their BLOG NAMES (if you wrote about this I apologize, just share the link and I can go back and read it myself so that you don’t have to retell the story). Have a wonderful weekend!
Souds like you both had a lovely day!
My kids love their one on one time! We like to go shopping, to the movies, or out to eat.
