Fort Wayne is foodie heaven! On this trip with the whole family we looked for budget friendly but unique fare, and we were not disappointed. Eating in Fort Wayne is so much fun! Check out these 5 must try foodie spots in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
1. Yummi Bunni
On our ten day Indiana road trip we tried all kinds of delicacies, but Yummi Bunni is what my crew has talked about the most. In fact we liked it so much the first time, that we went back again a second time during our two days in Fort Wayne. There’s a reason we do so much hiking! Ha ha!
I saw Yummi Bunni was an ice cream place, but was surprised to see people with burgers. Wait. They weren’t burgers. A Yummi Bunni is…wait for it…ice cream sandwiched between a bun ie. DONUT!! I’ll be honest. At first glance I was not impressed. At first bite, however Yummi Bunni made believers out of all seven of us. If you do nothing else, you much have a Yummi Bunni in Fort Wayne!
Our favorites were the cookie dough ice cream with cookie dough topping bun and the cookies and cream ice cream with…you guessed it crushed cookies on a bun. I’ve never had anything like it, and it’s fantastic!
2. Coney Island
Coney Island claims to be the oldest coney stand in America. It’s been operated by the same family since 1916.
The menu is simple. Hotdogs, hamburgers, chili, and beans, and they know how to make them right!
We went with Coney Island hot dogs, chips, and bottled Cokes, a fun and delicious experience for the whole family.
3. Cindy’s Diner
Cindy’s Diner is an authentic ‘5os diner with the slogan, “We can serve the Whole World, 15 at a time.” This tiny eatery is a huge favorite with locals. We were already planning to try it, but received several more recommendations along the way as we chatted with people along our Fort Wayne adventures.
There are literally 15 seats. The kids thought it great fun that we had to split up to be seated.
Old fashioned burgers, shakes, and grilled sandwiches we recommend, but the breakfast looked pretty darn good too!
4. Wu’s Fine Chinese Cuisine
If you love Chinese we recommend Wu’s! An upscale restaurant that is beautifully decorated with attention to detail.
With our crew we enjoyed the lunch specials that come with salad and choice of soup.
Beautifully served and exquisitely tasteful Wu’s is the perfect spot if you like American style Chinese or authentic Chinese cuisine.
5. DeBrand Fine Chocolates
Plan ahead to get the complete DeBrand Fine Chocolate experience with one of their tours! Call ahead for tour information.
Known for their truffles, DeBrand uses only the highest quality ingredients. You’ll have to taste the difference.
Our favorite find was this chocolate box. For the person who has everything why not gift them this Chocolate Art box dipped in 24-Carat edible gold??? I can so picture this full of truffles and one huge diamond ring. It would be the perfect proposal for any chocolate lover. Would it not?
