Ahh! The summer goes by faster every year. Can you believe it’s time to start a new school year? We have had such a fun summer with a total of (gasp) four road trips. The kids are sad it’s all coming to an end and so am I, though I still have lots of future trips going round and round in my mind.
But alas it’s time to switch gears and move into a more structured school mode. I’m doing three things differently to begin easing into the year and build excitement.
1. Purchase snacks for their school lunches! Nothing gets the kids excited to go back to school like buying them lots of fun snacks we don’t always have at home. The kids have loved the Horizon Organic milk for their lunches for years. This year we were so excited to find a line of Horizon snacks!
Joy is my early riser and getter done child so the making of the school lunches many times falls to her. I love finding yummy snacks that my kids will be excited about from brands I trust!
There is one problem to starting a few days ahead. The kids all want to eat the snacks NOW! Ha ha!
2. Stock up on brand new fun school supplies. There’s nothing like opening a new box of crayons or color pencils and using them on a brand new notebook. See the kids eyes light up when they come home with their own bag of shiny, new school supplies.
3. Begin waking up earlier. We’ve been easing into an earlier wake up time this week. Okay, I admit it. This one doesn’t exactly build excitement, but it does make the transition so much easier. The kids and I all prefer to stay up late and sleep in, so it’s an adjustment for all of us.
Ok school year here we come! What are you doing to get back to school ready?
