Who are you?

We got together with my husband’s side of the family for the first time in two years. This must have seemed like a really long time for twelve-year-old Derek.

I was sitting on the couch and he, having just seen my name written on a piece of paper, walked up to me and asked, “Who is Esther?” like he’d never heard that name in his life.

“What? Are you kidding me? It’s Aunt Esther to you!” I responded over dramatically pretending to be offended.

He couldn’t believe that of all people he had asked me the question. I thought it was hilarious.

I can understand. I wish everyone did not live so far away. Would like to see everyone more. But, you all could be further away. Take care, Uncle Phil (remember me?)

I remember “Uncle Phil.” I saw him at your wedding, and I think when your first baby was just a few weeks ago. It is a big/small world.
