Vacation Time! What Could Go Wrong?

Our Family Vacation to Houston Part 1

Did you catch the preview?

This was it–the morning we had long anticipated.  We were going on our first ever family vacation.  The suitcases were packed, the kids had eaten breakfast, but now where was Jason?  He came into the living room shaking his head.  “The sprinkler system quit,” he said. “I hope we have grass by the time we get back.”  In this Texas heat he was not exaggerating!  This was not exactly the way I envisioned setting out on our journey.

Perhaps it was the sprinkler system that was on his mind when he left our neighborhood…going the wrong way.  “Jason isn’t Houston that way?” I pointed.

“Oh, yeah.”  Usually he is an expert at taking the shortest route possible, but clearly his mind was not on his driving because he turned into some odd street heading back into our neighborhood, and it took us fifteen minutes to get back on the road!  He was mad.  I was laughing–not always the best scenario!

Being the great navigator that I am, I repeated, “We need 20 West,” continually until we got to the crossroads.  He turned.  “This is 20 East!” I accused.  “I said 20 West at least five times!”  Now all this happened within the first half hour of our trip!  Wish you were there?  Ha ha!

Continue to Part 2.
