The 30-Day Giving Challenge 2012

I still think of the man that stopped me in the grocery store and handed me $15 to help with groceries to feed all my kiddos!  I just feel so amazed that he cared enough to come over and give to us–perfect strangers.

When my husband was picking out a birthday balloon for our now four year old, he began a conversation with a man waiting his turn.  Before my husband left the man handed him a one dollar bill.  “For the birthday boy,” he said.  Wow!  It was just one dollar but we felt so blessed!

I talked to a lady in the Sam’s Club checkout line recently.  I asked her how she was doing.  She said she was doing great.  “I have to tell you, when I went through the Starbucks drive-thru this morning, I ordered four coffees for me and my coworkers.  When I went to pay, the car in front of me had paid for my ticket!”  This had happened hours earlier, but she was still smiling ear to ear because of that simple act of kindness!

Last Sunday one of the ladies at church brought a lunch size paper sack full of pecans collected from her trees for each family in our church.  The bag had been decorated with fall leaves cut from construction paper.  I LOVE to shell and eat pecans.  It reminds me of my childhood during the holidays, but they are so expensive to purchase that we rarely buy them.  What a blessing this was to our family!

My son picks a flower in the grass and gives it to me every single day!

These are seemingly small things but are such a blessing!  We are excited to partner with 30 Day Giving Challenge this year!  What is it?  Simply a challenge to give in some way each day in November!  I’m in!  How about you?

Do you have a heart for giving?  I’d like to invite you to join us from November 1 – 30, 2012 as we take giving to new heights, combining the efforts of thousands of people. We’ll be working together to bless our friends, family, neighbors, and complete strangers by making a conscious effort to give each day to bring glory to God!

As we move through November, don’t forget to follow the 30-Day Giving Challenge on PinterestFacebook, and Twitter (#30DayGive) to be encouraged and share your stories.

I’d love to hear your creative ideas for giving!

I’m linked with Gratituesday.

LOVE this challenge, Esther ~ count me in!!

I’m currently doing the “James, Mercy Triumphs” Bible study by Beth Moore, and each week includes a suggestion for a service project in addition to our homework. But I really like the idea of “giving” each day during the month of Thanksgiving!

This morning I baked a double batch of pumpkin chocolate chip muffins. I was going to freeze half of them to eat later, but you’ve inspired me to give some to my neighbor, who’s struggling through a difficult time right now.

I’m already praying for God’s guidance on what He’d like me to do/give tomorrow….and the rest of the month = )

  • I’m so excited about this challenge and anxious to see your great ideas. I’ve gotten some great ones just by reading this post! Thanks for sharing them!

  • My child CAN’T WAIT to do the pay for someone behind us in the drive thru lane one. She’s already figured out which day we can do it.

  • Those random acts of kindness really can make your day!

  • […] and problems and forget the greater picture.  Also, I’ve been so blessed and inspired by how others give that I want to bless others in the same […]
