Oh the Things Moms Say…

Things have been crazier than usual at my house of late.  With so many sick kids it was inevitable that I get it too.  I took my sickness with me to a women’s retreat, left the retreat early to go to a family reunion, came home and crash cleaned the house until I fell into bed.  Then I had family staying with me for several days.  I even managed to make someone mad in the middle of all this which did not help my stress level one bit.  I haven’t had a chance to sit down and write, but I plan to soon when I get a chance.

This week I was reminded of our visit last year when my parents came by.  My parents were leaving and we realized that we hadn’t taken any pictures.  I had just gotten out of bed and thrown some clothes on so that I could say goodbye.  Mom insisted on some pictures.  “I haven’t even brushed my hair,” I protested, but to no avail.  Someone took the picture.  My mom looked at the result and said:

“Esther, you’re so photogenic you look better in the picture than you do in real life!”   Thanks Mom!  :)

I don’t remember saying any such thing, but I won’t dispute it. You really are photogenic, but you look great in real life. I’ll quit before I say something else you can laugh at. By the way, the person you got on the wrong side of was not anybody in the family. We had a wonderful time!

Oh my gosh. that also goes under your honesty post :-) Well, I don’t know about looking better in photos than you do in real life, BUT I couldn’t tell from the photo that you had just gotten out of bed and hadn’t even brushed your hair yet. You look beautiful, as always

  • Ha ha, you are very photogenic!

  • Oh that’s funny. :) Hope you get a chance to relax soon. I know how stressful it can be to go non-stop for too long (and having someone mad at you is horrible as well. Hope things resolve soon).

Hahaha That sounds JUST like her!

  • You always photograph well from what I have seen! I am sorry someone is upset with you. Glad you had a good visit with your Mom!

The fact that you ARE photogenic and your wonderful “do-dah” outspoken mom is a winning combination.! I don’t know how anyone could be upset with you, I don’t think you you have a mean bone in your body! Send ‘em to me. I’ll be glad to set them back on course.

  • Now, THAT is funny! I almost spit Coke on my monitor. And that’s saying a lot because I am enjoying every drop of THIS Coke because it is the first I have had in over 3 weeks. (Kidney stones stink!)

I used to be a tiny kid – short and weightless. LOL! I weighed 95 pounds SOAKING WET when I was 18. But, I’ve been steadily gaining since I got married (at almost 22). I went from 105 to 197 over the last 20 years. ACK! I am losing weight now because I was determined NOT to hit 200 EVER. So, anyway, years ago when I weighed a LOT less than I do now, I was talking to my Mom about the “going away” dress she made me for my wedding. I said it would be neat to get back into it someday and she replied: “Honey, you’ll be lucky if you ever get your LEG back into that dress!” THANKS, MOM!

  • If that’s you looking bad, you must never look bad. Your mom is a riot, by the way.

  • Bwahahaha! I love your mom, lol! It seems like we will spend Christmas or Thanksgiving together and everybody leaves and all of a sudden I say “We forgot to take any pictures!!!!!”

I remember hearing celebrities say that people always tell them they look better in real life. I hope I look better in real life because usually I’m not looking so great in my pictures, lol! I haven’t seen you in real life but you sure look cute in your picture!

Thanks for linking up to Making Your Home Sing Monday!

Esther, that sounds like a comment my mom made to me recently. She was really trying to make it a compliment but it just came out wrong. Gotta love moms!
